Mon. 3 Depart Vancouver with Cathay Pacific Airlines

Tue. 4 Evening Arrival Bangkok , transfer to hotel

Wed. 5 A.M. sightseeing: Royal Palace, Emerald Buddha, National Museum. Afternoon free.

Thu. 6 Full day sightseeing: Temple of Dawn, Floating Market, Rose Garden, Elephant show, Cultural show.

Fri. 7 Fly to Chiang Mai. Sightseeing: Doi Sithep Tem- ple, Meo Hill Tribe village, ATTEND THE YI PING (LANTERN) FESTIVAL.

Sat. 8 Elephant Safari. Afternoon raft trip on the Mae Ping River, Orchid Nursery

Sun. 9 Drive to Chiang Rai stop at the ancient city of Chiang Saen. Afternoon visit to an Akha Tribe village

Mon.10 Visit a Karen Tribe village and Kuo Min Yunan Chinese settlement.

Tue. 11 Short drive to the Myanmar border for our flight to Heho and drive to Inle Lake.

Wed.12 Boat tour of the lake, visiting a fishing village, Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, stop at a village famous for weaving.

Thu. 13 All day drive to Mandalay with stops at points of interest.

Fri. 14 Mandalay. Visit to the Mahagandayon Monastery, Gold Buddha, silk weaving workshop, Golden Palace Monastery.

Sat. 15 Drive to Bagan with stop at Mount Popa an ex- tinct volcano and shrine.

Sun. 16 Visits to: Local market, 11th Century Shwezigion Pagoda and Manuha Temple, sunset over the plain containing hundreds of temples.

Mon. 17 All day drive to Yangon with sightseeing stops

Tue. 18 Two thousand year old Sule Pagoda, giant re- clining Buddha, famous Shwedagon Pagoda.

Wed. 19 A.M. flight to Bangkok and home. Or to Siem Reap or Hanoi

A second departure will take place departing on October 25th, 2014 and travelling in the exact opposite direction. This way both groups will be in Chiang Mai together to experience the Yi Peng Festival.

MANDALAY: Great view from Mandalay Hill, Gold leaf covered giant Buddha at Mahamuni, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung teak monastery.

BAGAN: 4,400 temples in the space of downtown Vancouver, many date back to the 11th century.

YANGON: (Rangoon) Myanmar’s largest city; the waterfront area contains fine examples of British colonial architecture. The 2500 year old 98m golden Shwedagon Paya Stupa is a must see

Chiang Mai Yi Peng festival.

Our departure date was chosen so that we can attend this beautiful festival. The climax is the launching of hundreds of lighted lanterns which fill the sky. The festivities also include beauty pageants, lantern decoration contests and fireworks.
